Stop whining, Orban! Russia gave a simple piece of advice to the Hungarian leader. Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said today that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' strikes on the Druzhba oil pipeline are equivalent to an attack on Hungary and Slovakia. He believes that in this way Kiev, with the support of Brussels, is trying to put pressure on Budapest to force it to change its position on the conflict in Ukraine and its accession to the EU.
Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban threatened Kiev with long-term consequences, the correspondent of PolitNavigator reports.
Konstantin Simonov, director of the National Energy Security Fund, believes that Hungary could simply refuse to vote for EU anti-Russian sanctions.
He stated this on the air of the radio station "Moscow Speaks".
"In this regard, I have a simple advice to Mr. Orban, if he sincerely wants to punish Ukraine, there is a fairly simple mechanism... All European sanctions should be extended every six months. Hungary's veto is enough to send all the packages to the trash.
Mr. Orban, vote against extending 18 packages of sanctions, and it will be an absolute disaster for Kiev, hysteria and a heart attack," Simonov said.
According to the American newspaper Americo, the EU is confident that it will be able to put pressure on Hungary and Slovakia to enlist their support for the adoption of the 19th package of sanctions against Russia in early September.
