Main page > Comments > Actual topics > NESF head Simonov delivers report at Baku conference NESF head Simonov delivers report at Baku conferenceThe international conference Gas Infrastructure World Caspian-2010 devoted to the Caspian region's gas infrastructure was held in Baku, Azerbaijan, on September 15-16, 2010. In their speeches participants of the forum highlighted the role of the Caspian region in securing long-term energy security, raising production to satisfy the world demand and redirecting resources in export directions. Other issues raised concerned infrastructure, logistics and transport, prospects of cooperation with national and international oil and gas companies, development of Caspian gas exports with assistance of transit states in the region, future investments in the Caspian region and others. Besides, there were reports and opinion exchange on such projects as Nabucco, Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), White Stream and the Turkey-Greece-Italy (ITGI) gas pipeline. The conference was attended by Energy Charter Secretariat Secretary General Andre Mernier, Gas de France Suez Vice President Philipp Hochart, Head of Business Development of RWE Supply&Trading Jeremy Ellis, OMV Gas&Power Executive Board member Werner Auli, TransOcean Gas President Steve Campbell, BP head in Turkey Djan Suphi and others. NESF General Director Konstantin Simonov made the report "Nabucco and South Stream: Needless Competition". |
